What is signing status?
Apple cryptographically signs each firmware version to allow installation. Once signing is revoked, you can no longer restore to that version through Finder or iTunes normally.
Max installable version
The latest signed firmware is the highest version you can upgrade (or restore) to right now. If you care about keeping a jailbreak, check before updating.
Data accuracy
Signing status is fetched live from the IPSW Downloads API. Signing windows can close without warning — always verify before starting a restore.
